School uniform is worn to encourage the development of self confidence and pride in the school and a high standard of personal appearance is expected of all students.  Uniform at Brakenhale is an important part of instilling pride and high expectations, protecting students and supporting effective teaching and learning.  Please help us to maintain standards and expectations by ensuring that your son/daughter is wearing full school uniform. Any student arriving at school in non-uniform clothing may expect to be sent home to get changed.

Our school uniform can be purchased from The Direct Clothing Company. You can order online from here:

All students in Years 7 to 11 are expected to wear the school uniform, which includes a black blazer with school emblem, burgundy striped tie, formal white shirt, black trousers or skirt, optional burgundy v-necked jumper with school emblem.

Our school uniform should be affordable for everyone and no-one should be excluded for financial reasons. If you have any problems obtaining uniform or if there are any issues about providing the correct school uniform please contact:

Mrs Theal, Curriculum Support Manager, on pastoral@brakenhale.co.uk or 01344 465030.

Advance Notice: School Uniform Changes

- from the Department for Education

As you may be aware new, legislation has been implemented by the Department for Education to reduce the cost of school uniform to make it affordable for all.

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-rules-to-drive-down-cost-of-school-uniform-for-families

At Brakenhale, we have carefully considered the guidance and have made a decision to refine our uniform from September 2023.  It has been agreed that the five-compulsory branded (logo) items will be:

  • School blazer
  • School tie
  • School bag
  • School skirt
  • PE polo shirt

We will continue to use The Direct Clothing Company as suppliers of our uniform. All other currently branded (logo) items will still be available to be purchased should you wish to, however they are not compulsory.

Please find our uniform and expectations guidance for September 2023 at the bottom of the page.

We would also like to confirm that the school sweatshirt will be removed from our uniform and after Easter 2024.  We request that students no longer wear this item in school from this time.

Please visit our Policies page for our School Uniform Statement:
