In 2016 we inaugurated our Head Students initiative.  These exciting roles within the school demonstrate how the school encourages and listens to the student voice.  The students act as ambassadors for the school and lead the school council.

Each year, Year 13 students apply for the position of Head Student. Students write a letter of application and perform a short presentation to our staff and students after which there is a vote for the students we were most impressed by. Our Head Students become true representatives of our school and sixth form and get involved in a variety of events and activities, from prefect meetings to Open Evenings. It is a fantastic opportunity to become involved in the wider school community and is an excellent addition to any UCAS form or application form.

Once the Head Students have been confirmed we then advertise for our Student Union members. These students apply for specific roles, such as Finance Officer or Social Officer. We then meet once a fortnight to discuss ideas and plan events for the sixth form. These events might raise money for charity, or simply help connect Sixth Form to the rest of school. Again, it is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain experience in particular areas of interest and to challenge their entrepreneurial skills.

2022: Well done to Ellie Cousins and Ethan Vine, our Head Students for this year.

2021: Congratulations to Rachel Sullivan and Archie Kumar who were chosen as our Head Students for this year.

2020: We were delighted to announce that Dragos Popa and Miriam Appiah Amponsah were selected as the Brakenhale Head Students for the academic year 2020-21.

2019: Well done to Asha Munissi, Danielle Rabulan and Toby Gennery for being selected as the Head Students for 2019-20.

2018: Jordan Penn and Ella Brigden were selected as the Brakenhale Head Students for the academic year 2018-2019.  Well done to Jordan and Ella.

2017: We were pleased to announce that Kieran West and Eloise Morris were selected as the Brakenhale Head Students for the academic year 2017-2018.

2016: Lewis Clothier and Laura Maryon were selected as the Brakenhale Head Students for the academic year. Supporting them will be Charley Camp, Becky Jones and Ryan Lodder as Deputies.
