Brakenhale Sport: Half Term 5 Round-Up 🏆

It has been an incredibly busy and successful few weeks for our PE department. As the weather (slowly) turns, we’ve transitioned from the muddy football pitches to the track and the cricket crease. The energy and "desire for the game" from our students have been brilliant to see.

Here is a look at what our athletes have been up to and what’s coming up on the horizon.

⚽ GLT Football Tournament @ Blaise High School

On April 28th, we took a strong contingent to the GLT Football Tournament, including our Year 7, 8 and 9 Boys teams and our Year 8 and 9 Girls team. It was a fantastic day of competitive football and sportsmanship.

Year 8 Boys: A massive congratulations to the Year 8s who secured 2nd place! This is their second year running on the podium—an impressive display of consistency and teamwork.

🏃 District Athletics: The Road to County

The U15 and U17 District Athletics took place at Bracknell Leisure Centre on April 29th. The talent on display was exceptional, and the results speak for themselves:

7 Students Qualified: We have 7 athletes moving on to represent us in 8 different events at the County rounds!
Save the Date: These students will be competing at Palmer Park on June 13th.
Year 7 Challenge: Now, the baton passes to our Year 7s. Their District event is coming up on Wednesday, June 24th, and we are looking for them to match the high bar set by the older year groups!

🏏 Summer Season: Rounders & Cricket

We’ve hit the ground running with local fixtures against Sandhurst School and other local rivals. The enthusiasm for our Rounders and Cricket teams has been higher than ever. Whether it’s a tactical bowl or a clinical rounder, our students are representing Brakenhale with real commitment and incredible sportsmanship.

What’s Coming Up?

The calendar is packed for the remainder of the term. We want to see as many students as possible taking part in:

Year 7 District Athletics: June 24th.
GLT Rounders: (Years 7–9).
GLT Athletics Championships: We are aiming to bring a huge atmosphere to this one, hopefully including our very own cheerleading team to spur on the athletes!
The Big One: Prepare yourselves... SPORTS DAY is approaching!

Get Involved: We have plenty more local fixtures coming up. If you haven’t signed up yet, now is the time to get involved and represent your school!
