Outstanding Success in National Maths Challenges

Intermediate Maths Challenge
We had some fantastic results from the students who qualified for additional rounds following the Intermediate Maths Challenge, which top-set Maths students in Years 9–11 participated in back in January. A total of five students progressed to the follow-on rounds this year, which is an incredible achievement!
Ewan and Daniel in Year 11 both qualified for the Maclaurin Olympiad, which is designed for the top mathematicians in Year 11 across the country and is extremely competitive, with only around 600 students qualifying from each year group. In this competition, Ewan achieved a bronze medal and a book prize for placing in the top 100 in the UK!
We also had Aden and Ynette in Year 9 achieve bronze certificates in the Grey Kangaroo, while Yat in Year 11 achieved a gold certificate in the Pink Kangaroo Challenge.
Junior Maths Challenge
At the end of April, we held the Junior Maths Challenge for just over 100 of our Year 7 and Year 8 students. This is a 60-minute, 25-question multiple-choice paper designed to develop mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills for students in Year 8 and below.
It was great to see so many students get involved this year and achieve fantastic results, with forty-three students being awarded Bronze, Silver or Gold certificates. We also had three students who performed exceptionally well and qualified for the Junior Kangaroo, which takes place on 9th June.
